WHAT IS SUGARING HAIR REMOVAL AND HOW DOES SUGARING WORK?
.
First, the skin is prepped to remove any lotions and creams. The organic sugar paste is then applied against the hair in the opposite direction of your natural hair growth. In the process, the sugar paste sips into the hair follicle, and wraps around the hair. Finally, with a flick, the hair is pulled out in the natural direction of your hair growth.
Because the sugar paste is applied in the opposite direction of your natural hair growth, it does not stick to your skin. In contrast, it slips into the follicle. The sugar paste only binds to hair unlike wax that sticks and pulls your skin when removing hair.
Therefore, sugaring hair removal is especially good for sensitive skin as it causes less irritation. Sugaring is also very thorough. Because, we are able to go over an area a few times, not only to make sure we don’t miss any hair but also to exfoliate dead skin cells. As a result, your skin feels smooth and supple. In contrast, you can not apply wax to the same spot many times. It will rip off the skin.
.
IS SUGARING BETTER THAN WAXING?
SUGARING IS MORE SANITARY AND HYGIENIC COMPARED TO WAXING
Unlike waxing, every client get’s their own bowl of sugar paste. No sticks, no recycling/reusing, no dips and no double dips. Sugaring is therefore more hygienic and sanitary compared to waxing.
.
SUGARING HAIR REMOVAL IS GREAT FOR ALL SKIN TYPES & HAIR TYPES INCLUDING SENSITIVE SKIN
If you have sensitive skin, frequent break outs or have adverse reactions to waxing, sugaring is a better option. This is because:
- Sugar paste is made of 100% organic and biodegradable ingredients
- The sugar paste is made of lemon-a natural preservative, sugar-a natural antiseptic and healer and water
- After application, the luke-warm sugar paste warms up to your body temperature, never leaving your skin feeling hot, red, tender or as irritated as you would with waxing.
- Sugaring sugar paste doesn’t stick or adhere to the skin. It only binds to hair. In contrast, wax sticks to the skin and pulls and strips your skin while it’s ripped off. As a result, you get redness and harsh lines.
The above reasons makes sugaring hair removal gentler and safer for all hair textures and skin types.
SUGARING HAIR REMOVAL MAY BE THE SOLUTION TO YOUR INGROWN HAIR PROBLEM
Tired of the ingrown hair you get from waxing and razors? Sugaring hair removal is the solution to that problem. Ingrown hairs occur when you remove hair backwards, against its natural growth. This deforms the hair, breaks it in the process, causing it to curl over and start growing back in the opposite direction. Consequently, you get ingrown hair. In contrast, sugaring removes hair along it’s natural growth and does not tear the hair follicle. This prevents ingrown hairs that are not only painful but can also get infected.
SUGARING EXFOLIATES AND IS GENTLER TO YOUR SKIN COMPARED TO WAXING
Waxing breaks the hair during the removal process and cannot be applied on the same spot over and over. It is dangerous to apply wax more than once because the wax sticks to your skin and can pull off the top layer of your skin. Sugar paste only adheres to dead skin cells and the hair itself. Therefore, it is safe to go over the skin multiple times, especially when using powder as a protection layer. As a result, you get a cleaner, smoother finish. In addition, you don’t have to worry about burns because sugaring paste is applied at room/luke-warm temperature whereas wax is applied when hot.
IS SUGARING LESS PAINFUL THAN WAXING?
Pain tolerance varies from person to person but it is considered less in sugaring than waxing. In the beginning, there is a lot more coarse and dense hair. But, over time and frequent, repeated sugaring hair removal procedures, the hair starts to grow back sparse and scattered. Consequently, the hair roots don’t have time to grow back as strong as in the beginning of treatments. They are weaker and come out of the follicle more easily. Therefore, less painful.
Also, sugaring hurts less than waxing because the sugaring paste is not hot when applied. In addition, it slips into the hair follicle and lubricates it while still being sticky enough to adhere to the hair but not too sticky to adhere to the skin. This causes the sugar paste to pull less on the skin while still effectively removing the hair. As a result, you will have a lot less irritation and redness. For this reason, a lot of people find sugaring to be a lot less painful.
WHERE CAN YOU SUGAR AND IS IT SAFE?
You can get sugaring anywhere you have hair. Such as eyebrows, legs, arms, underarms, bikini, upper lip, chin, chest, back, anal strip and the whole body. Sugaring hair removal is safe for all skin types and hair textures.
WHICH LASTS LONGER- WAXING OR SUGARING?
In general, sugaring lasts about 4-6 weeks depending on what stage you’re removing the hair. There are variants, however, such as first time users, lifetime shavers, hair density, different ethnicities and rate of hair growth. Results may last a shorter period at first but once you’ve sugared a few times, your hairs will begin growing back slower, finer and sparser. We recommend returning once every four weeks in the beginning for the first three months. The reason for this is to allow the hair to be on the same growth cycle and to remove the next hair coming in. That’s how you’ll get permanent results that won’t require frequent hair removals. In summary, sugaring results last longer and are the most cost effective in the long run.
IS SUGARING SAFE FOR SENSITIVE SKIN?
Sugaring is great for all skin types including those with eczema, psoriasis, and even varicose veins. With sugaring, only the dead skin and hair is removed. None of your skin is stripped as is the possibility in waxing. The sugaring paste is applied at room temperature or luke warm so it can NEVER burn you!
CAN SUGARING REMOVE HAIR PERMANENTLY?
You can become permanently hairless if sugaring is done correctly and frequently. If and how long it will take you to stay hairless depends on several factors such as hair type, the method you previously used to remove hair and hair growth density.
It is recommended that you get your body sugaring done at 1/8″ to catch the hair in the beginning stages of growth-the anagen stage. Every time the hair is extracted in the Anagen stage of growth, it pulls a portion of the hair follicle with it. As the follicles are removed, the follicle wall will eventually collapse causing the follicles to be permanently removed thus rendering them unable to produce hair. Waiting longer between services creates more discomfort during the molding and spreading process and will not lead to permanency.
Sugaring removes the hair in the earliest stage of growth, the anagen stage. When removed at this stage, the re-growth is much slower and finer. Hair cannot be pulled with the traditional method of waxing at the anagen stage as it is too short for the wax to adhere to. Waxing requires the hair to be longer, that is in the Catagen stage of growth. When the hair enters the Catagen stage of growth it is already detaching from the follicle wall, the follicle is still intact, making it less likely to lead to permanency.
HOW LONG DOES HAIR HAVE TO BE BEFORE SUGARING?
Hair must be at least 1/8 inch long with no waxing within 2 weeks prior and no sugaring 3 weeks before your treatment. Hair should also not be excessively long. As hair generally grows on a 6 week cycle, we recommend that all clients come in once every four weeks for the first three months to try and allow the hair to be on the same growth cycle.
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR SUGARING HAIR REMOVAL?
In general, we recommend to avoid shaving, waxing, glycolic or chemical peels, laser treatments, botox, sunbathing or using a tanning bed or any other treatments that sensitize the skin for 48 hours prior to or after any sugaring treatment.
IN SUMMARY, WHAT MAKES SUGARING HAIR REMOVAL SO GREAT?
Sugaring costs about the same as waxing, but instead of potentially irritating the skin and breaking the hair off at the skin’s surface, this all-natural mixture of sugar, lemon, and water removes the hair directly from the follicle, allowing it to grow back softer, less coarse, and thus less noticeable. It works out to be less expensive and cost effective in the long run. If you are looking for a place for sugaring hair removal in Dallas, Neema’s Body Wraps is the place for you!
